Vrksasana


Be barefoot. Start in Tadasana, the basic standing pose. Shift your weight to your right foot. Lift your left foot off the floor. Place the left foot onto your right leg, as high as it will comfortably go, toes aimed down toward the floor.

Lift your arms over your head. Extend your fingers toward the ceiling. Take your arms behind your head, shoulders released down. Press your left foot and right thigh firmly into each other. Take your left knee back toward the wall behind you while your hips are square with the wall in front of you. Take your tailbone down to elongate your lower spine. Soften your gaze, quiet your hearing, relax your jaw. Breathe evenly and comfortably. To come out of the pose, exhale your arms and leg down to Tadasana, the standing pose at the beginning. Repeat on the other side.
