Anantasana

Lie on your right side, keeping your legs together, left arm lying along the left side of your body. Stretch your right arm beyond your head on the floor. Bend your right elbow and rest your head, above your right ear, on the palm of your right hand. Bend your left leg. Reaching in front of your left leg with your left hand, hold onto the big toe of your left foot. Extend your left leg, rotating it outward in the hip socket. If you are unable to extend your left leg while holding onto the big toe, hold onto a strap or tie which is around your left foot.

This pose is done while keeping your body in one plane. Do not let your hips go back or your bottom arm or lifted leg come forward. Your top shoulder is directly above your lower shoulder. The same is true for your hips. If a lack of balance prevents you from doing the pose, do it with your back against a wall. An alternative is to do the pose with the sole of your lower foot against the wall and your body lying perpendicular to the wall.

Keep your breath flowing comfortably through your nose. Relax your facial muscles, throat, neck, eyes, and ears. To come out the pose, bend your left leg and return it on top of your right leg. Repeat the pose on your other side.
