New Centro Budista Valencia

Welcome

Mission - Vision

The Friends of the Western Buddhist Order is an international movement founded by Urgen Sangharakshita and based on his vision of the dharma, which preserves the essential nature of the Buddha’s teaching while emphasising a non-sectarian, ecumenical approach.  Our goal is to communicate the dharma to the modern world and promote the transformation of both the individual and society.

Vision

Loyal to the teachings of the Buddha, we believe in everyone’s potential to develop and grow as human beings, to realise ever more refined states of consciousness, to cultivate wisdom and compassion for the benefit of all living beings.

Mission

Forming a part of the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order our centre serves as a meeting point available to all who seek a spiritual alternative to modern society.  A place which supports the study and practice of meditation, ethics and the development of Perfect Vision.

Srimat - NewCBV

New Logo

Srimat is much more than a fundraising project to buy a property for the Valencia Buddhist centre.

Srimat is the name of Ratnasabhava’s Pure Land.  Inspired by the qualities of Srimat, a place which radiates beauty, creativity and peace; a space characterised by friendship and metta, we wish to create the conditions where one can develop as a spiritual being, express ones solidarity with others and develop supreme wisdom.

Our aim is to encourage, involve and unify all the diverse creative energies of those involved in our centre - Order Members; Mitras and Friends - here in Spain and abroad and make our dream of a new centre a reality.

With every ones active participation and abundant creativity what was once only an idea becomes a reality!

¡¡¡Sadhu Reme!!!!

Thank you Reme for creating this marvelous, colourful logo for our new project. This is a small example of how by working together we can make our dream a reality.

Ratnasambhava

Our project to raise funds to buy a property for the Valencia Buddhist centre is inspired and guided by the qualities and vision of Ratnasambhava.  Our wish is to create a new centre inspired by Srimat, Ratnasabhava’s glorious Pure Land, a place which supports the study and practice of meditation, ethics and the development of Perfect Vision.

Ratnasambhava, jewel born, is the Buddha of generosity; abundance, beauty and aesthetic appreciation, riches, wealth and the Wisdom of Sameness.  His yellow lotus throne sits upon the back of four magnificent white horses which represent our ebullient, untamed energy.  Through the practice of meditation we can learn to tame, refine and direct these energies in the service of the Dharma.

His colour is golden yellow, the colour of the sun and of the harvest; it is also the colour of joy and abundance.  His element is that of the earth.  In the Wheel of Life he presides over the Human Realm where he encourages us to cooperate and manifest our solidarity with others.

In his left hand he holds the Chintamani, the wish-fulfilling gem; his right hand is extended in the mudra of generosity, of supreme giving.  To enter his glorious Pure Land, Srimat, one must travel to the southern quarter of the Mandala of the Five Buddhas .
